Modifications EN 388:2016

The European standard EN 388:2003, the most common standard for working gloves, is revised at the end of 2016 into the EN 388:2016. This standard applies to all types of working gloves that protect against physical and mechanical hazards arising from sanding, cutting, perforating and tears.

Modifications EN 388:2016

Glove standards provide more detailed information on specific technical requirements, performance and protective levels. These changes provides more clarity. So your customers can make better choices in which working gloves are the most suitable for the desired applications.

The EN 388:2016 standard includes up to six separate mechanical performance measurements, including two scores for cut resistance and the very first testing method for impact strength (new) as opposed to the previous four performance measurements.

Chance to be reviewed every five years

Every five years it is determined whether a PPE-standard can still exist for another five years or if the standard should be adjusted. This five-year pattern is imposed by CEN (Comité Européen de Normalisation).
